AUDITION INFO
When is the audition? Wednesday, September 3, 5-8pm. We have the audition broken up by level and style as follows:
5-6pm - Level 2 and 3 (Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Hip Hop)
6-6:30pm - Tap (Level 2 and up)
6:30-8pm - Level 4 and up (Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Hip Hop
Dancers will audition for multiple styles of dance, even if they do not have experience in all styles (only Tap is separate). Some of the dances are a mashup of styles, and sometimes we discover dancers are great in a style they’ve never tried before!
If you are in both Level 3 and 4 classes, you may attend either time slot, or both!
Do I need to sign up ahead of time to audition? YES! Dancers need to register for the audition in advance, no later than Tuesday, September 2. Click here to register for auditions.
What do I need to do at the audition? Dancers will be learning a short pieces of choreography as a group VERY QUICKLY at the audition, then performing it in small groups. Dancers do not need to come with anything prepared in advance, but you must make sure to ARRIVE EARLY in order to check in, properly warm up on your own, and be ready to start ON TIME. Dancers arriving late to their time slot will not be permitted to jump in once that audition has already begun.
What should I wear? Wearing form fitting dance clothing with hair neatly secured off the face and just changing your shoes is fine for all sections of the audition. Dancers who are en pointe may use pointe shoes for their ballet audition if they wish.
What if I can’t make it to the audition in person? If you cannot make it to the audition in person, you may join remotely via Zoom, OR, request the recording of audition and submit a video audition. Dancers must still register for the audition, but contact us to let us know they will not attend in person. Deadline for submitting video auditions is Friday, September 5.
